My prediction is the biotech job market is cyclical and will rebound, but offshoring of entry level jobs and an ascendant Chinese biotech system will blunt that recovery here. This will be countered over the longer term by smaller PhD cohorts and fewer grads which we are starting to see (overdue).

I have heard of senior scientist positions at pharma companies, which are entry level industry roles for people with Ph.D + postdoc, getting 1000. It’s a mess.

This is so obvious in hindsight yet I hadn’t considered the evolutionary pressure against lysines in this context. Do you know if WNK ( with no lysine) family kinases are involved in regulating quality control?
