Gary Wilson told me he let his 2008 album go out of print because the drums were too loud and he’d lost the multitracks. I used AI to isolate the drums, then lowered and mixed them back in. He reissued the album last month. AI has its place as a tool, but shouldn’t replace human capability.
Yeah, the shits and giggles defence doesn't work. I've used AI once, to remove the vocal from a piece of music. I can tell you from bitter experience that this would have been close to impossible without it. Anything a human can do, let the human do it.
