In his 2019 book FALL, set in the 2040s, SF author Neal Stephenson depicts the use of "y'all" by an Iowan as a signal of far right politics, equivalent (as another character suggests) to a confederate bumper sticker.
Since the book came out, y'all seems to have become exactly the opposite.
