This legislation requires HUD and Census to study how federal agencies identify and track housing loss in the U.S., where such tracking is lacking and how it can be improved (including resources necessary to support this), and submit a report to Congress within six months of the law's enactment.

We've called for creating a National Housing Loss Rate to stand alongside the unemployment rate as a key economic/social metric. We can't fix housing security without knowing what's wrong, and RN we don't track the millions who lose their homes through eviction & other displacements. bit.ly/44frJEb
The First Step to Solving the Housing Crisis Might Be Simpler Than You Think
America couldn’t conquer unemployment until there was an unemployment rate. So it’s time to start compiling a housing loss rate.

This quote pretty much sums things up: “If our jobs paid us enough money, we wouldn’t need
any help at all,” said another study participant. “If I earn
good money, I’m not going to be looking for benefits.
I’ll take care of my bills.”
