Drives me crazy. If you don’t want to fight say so. Stop trying to discourage others from doing the work you’re too jaded to do.

You try 50 times and win the 51st. That’s how it works. Progress happens when you find ways to make it matter. And sometimes it’s just your persistence.

Before predators groom their targets, they groom the organizations, social spaces, and communities they operate within.

It may not be the titan author but the 'charismatic, guy everyone likes' volunteering or providing event space the community depends upon.

Poverty is a tool of coercion and control. An impoverished and defeated population keeps the rich at the top. The struggle to exist day to day extinguishes the struggle to resist what’s keeping you there. They’ll feed you enough that you’ll thank them; never enough that you’ll look for more.

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

Participants in Denver's basic-income program reported having more-secure housing, though results were similar in the trial and control groups.

Started doing this in spring 2023, as well as walking undergrads through it in class. Giving them preexisting examples, rather than having them geneate new responses, is a little garder in specialized philosophy classes, but cuts down on the energy/water costs of using these LLM/GPT-type "AI"

Anat Shenker-Osorio: “conflicted voters saw Democrats as unable or unwilling to fight for them. Fairly or not, “this all happened on Democrats’ watch” — “this” being the fall of Roe v. Wade, the passage of anti-voter laws, the economic struggles they faced — was the cry of the conflicted voter.”

Hey WW! Feeling alone? Check in with your WW friends. Well-meaning hubbies are gaslighting the shit out of us. "Calm down, why are you so emotional? This won't affect you." Don't apologize - you're not alone. It's ok to be upset. Be angry. Have hard conversations. Read, learn, make change.

Florida schools and colleges have become a testing ground for conservative policies meant to limit or expunge what Republicans describe as “woke” indoctrination. Rather than trying to regulate what a professor can say, the new strategy aims to remove entire courses.
Florida Tries a Subtler Way to Curb Progressive Ideology: Cut Sociology
Conservatives in Florida have moved from explosive politics to subtler tactics to uproot liberal “indoctrination” in higher education by removing subjects like sociology from core requirements.

UNT changed at least 78 course titles and descriptions in the College of Ed's grad program--and made 130 edits to undergrad courses-- after a recent directive on DEI in curriculum:
