The way we get out of this is by amending the constitution to severely curtail the power of the president. The way we do that is by governing in accordance with the legal precedent set by Trump until enough republicans join democrats to pass an amendment.

It's uncanny how the worst half-dozen acts of Trump 45 (Muslim ban, normalizing Charlottesville, family separation policy, Ukrainian quid-pro-quo, covid disinformation, BLM unmarked arrest vans) have all morphed from exceptionally bad moments in his presidency to the new status quo.

It's uncanny how the worst half-dozen acts of Trump 45 (Muslim ban, normalizing Charlottesville, family separation policy, Ukrainian quid-pro-quo, covid disinformation, BLM unmarked arrest vans) have all morphed from exceptionally bad moments in his presidency to the new status quo.
Something I don't hear talked about much is electoral/governmental reforms deliberately set to take effect beyond the horizon of one's ability to forecast politics. Having a biannual supreme court rotation is more palatable if the rotation begins in 2033.
