If your content is long and boring, they won’t read it. If it’s short and boring, they won’t read it.

But they will read it for as long as it remains entertaining.

When Queen released Bohemian Rhapsody, executives were worried it was too long at 6 minutes; how many times do you think it’s been listened to?

“People have an infinite attention span if you are entertaining them.” - Jerry Seinfeld.

(Let me end with a friendly warning: if B.J. Novak’s kernel of wisdom moves you to buy his book, your kids will ask you to read it approximately twenty bajillion times.)

If I write the words, “Novak’s book is an off-the-wall delight,” you didn’t read, “A jam doughnut is the perfect mid-morning snack.”
