My parents always told us that when JFK was assassinated our next door neighbor was painting his house (in a suit no less). My mother yelled up to him on the ladder "Mr. Smith the President has been shot!!" He nodded and continued to paint.

Sad I remember that season pretty well (I was in 9th grade). He was very talented and stood out. One f bomb and that was that.
