Productivity blogger; webcomics fan.

Maybe I will write a cookbook! Maybe I won't! Could be I've revealed my doin's at https://thefinalfivepercent.wordpress.com/

In these times of breaking, I hope to repair.

She/her/sandwich
Hearty #GoodLunch to support a day of late season yardwork - cheeseburger soup, sourdough bread, dill spears and iced coffee.

It got the "write that one down" seal of approval, so now to convert the improvisational use-it-up ingredients into a repeatable version.

Grading tomatoes.

All the fully ripe ones were only partly reddish or pink before they went in cardboard boxes with bananas on the 28th.

Wanna say this is more ripening faster than I got with just cardboard in '23, but I don't have hard evidence. I AM confident that the banana trick works though!

We've been keeping separate emergency supplies, but there isn't space for enough to see us through a long term issue, so we're using up the separate stash.

This dried soup from ALDI is okay, but with a little help it became a #GoodLunch.

Not pictured but also used for soup: butter, diced chicken.

Catching up with comics - Buttersafe by Raynato Castro and Alex Culang.

Mostly gag-a-day, but with recurring characters such as Veiny Dog and Saddest Turtle.

This mopey slasher is seasonally appropriate, though slashers are year-round.

Nice!

Been learning about garlic - had success with a tiny raised bed. Planted at the wrong time but greens and cloves/heads were edible the whole time.

Hoping to manage a proper fall planting, but also trying indoors, and they're growing manaically. Today was the 2nd trim! Hoooray for alliums!

Cosplay-ready or GTFO.

I IMMEDIATELY thought of this:

Had me a #GoodLunch! Quinoa fritters seasoned with Tony Chachere's (I practiced my pronunciation on the phone with a boy from Baton Rouge while I made the... batter? The fritter stuff, you know), tomato salad, bookbinder soup (a lovely fish soup with a mystifying name), and iced coffee. Very good!

We have an unknown number of small fuzzy neighbors who 1) identify as Bunnicula and 2) do not like tomatoes.

I don't mind sharing, but taking a single chomp of perfect produce and then abandoning it is NOT neighborly!

Yeah, I'm talking to you, bunnies and squirrels and, I dunno, possibly foxes?

I bookmark widely, including social media posts.

This is a before and after on Bsky bookmarks, up until September 8 vs. after September 9. It got worse to the point of useless.

Is name/title content determined by the website or the browser? None of the searches I've tried have borne fruit.

I'm using SwiftKey because it has configuration options that are less annoying than the native Samsung one built into my device.

My must haves are number row and speech to text button.

It's adequate, and this doesn't give Microsoft more of my info than they already get from the laptop.

Bree how did you know I just used the last fresh mozzarella but I still have almost two and a half pounds of green zebras and I need another fresh tomato idea that is not salsa or gazpacho?

Also green zebras are AMAZING.

Also also I just decided maybe a fruit salsa would be good actually.

Today's #GoodLunch is green zebra tomato and fresh mozzarella salad, dressed with two vinegars - cara cara orange infused white balsamic, and sherry vinegar to cut that sweetness - plus lime infused olive oil, garlic salt, and dried basil. Served with toasted English muffins - buttered, of course!

I used my phone for this post, and I didn't realize I hadn't turned on the setting to require alt-text on images the way it is on the laptop.

I'd've deleted if I'd caught it right away, but it's been nearly a day, so instead I'll repost my own post with alt-text.

Oh, and I turned that setting on!
September 19, 2025 at 2:34 PM
Well, THIS sucks.

I have now turned on the "require alt text" setting on the phone app, which I thought was turned on - even though I knew I should have checked, due to this same thing happening not long ago to another user who is an alt-text proponent.

I will not delete it - learn from my error!

#GoodLunch tortizza!

This is a 10 inch flour tortilla, decked out like a pizza crust - no oil, just sauce and toppings assembled on the toaster oven rack - baked at 450 degrees for 9 minutes.

It has no right to be this good. :)

I'm thirsty, so chai masala AND basil-infused limeade with water.

Tomato skin fritters are a #GoodLunch! Chop what's left after putting Roma tomatoes through a food mill, add egg, flour, diced onion, cheese, and garlic salt, and fry in butter.

Fritterization fixes my dislike for tomato skin texture, and I hear they're full of nutrients so I'm glad to find a use!

The tomato jam thickened up! Getting ready for canning (which I haven't done in years - exciting!).
