When we did this research into digital ID one of the things we saw is that people over 65 particularly (and I'd be interested to run this along voting intention too) are attracted to the trappings of security because it makes it feel like society is safer. www.careful.industries/digital-iden...

Just like liquids at the airport etc, security theatre creates an environment that makes some people feel safer and some feel more vulnerable. There are lots of advantages to being able to prove who you are, but an increase in security theatre is an issue of social control rather than one of safety
