Basically a good guy, blessed to be married to his high school sweetheart, doing his best to do right in the world.
Wow, I am sorry that I'm doing such a bad job of getting my message across. The point isn't holding them to account now - it's not. It's causing them to understand now that there is a credible path to holding them to account later. That may curb their worse impulses, which is what we want.

I'll respectfully disagree wrt justice not being an issue now. People with bad inclinations behave worse if they believe they will not be held to account as compared to how they would behave if they thought there might be a trial in their future. We WANT them to worry about that trial.

Insurrection Act would be another level.
Re Miller, Johnson, etc., we need them wondering whether there will be a price to pay for their behavior. They're counting on pardons to eliminate accountability, so we need to find another way so they can't assume they'll be fine.

That's an interesting idea. Wonder if Miller's abject hate of non-white, non-Christian persons as evidenced by the inhumane treatment he has fostered through brute squads has violated international law.

1) As the administration gets weaker, they'll do a "Hail Mary" (e.g., Insurrection Act on a pretense) to disrupt the midterms - we need to be prepared; 2) because Trump pardons everyone, we need Stephen Miller, etc to anticipate accountability through other means - states? If not, what else?

For the curious, tule pronounced as TOO-lee. Man has this been a long spate of it...

I would, but I've canceled my WaPo subscription because Bezos. Wasn't that the right thing to do?

Done. Canceled, removed app from everywhere.

I guess take these numbers as a win, but I'm shocked they aren't even more skewed: Republicans are ridiculing ‘No Kings.’ A striking new poll shows Americans aren’t laughing

New polling reinforces how much the thrust of the “No Kings” message has resonated with much of the American public.

BREAKING from CNN: The Hindenburg is apparently suffering from an excess of heat and smoke, leading some observers to have concerns about the share price of the company that owns it.

Also, seriously? Democracy only matters because of its favorable influence on the economy? What the hell?

I'm worried things WILL get stupider.

I definitely endorse establishing the legal basis for killing international civilians post hoc... (not). "Hey, those guys have drugs." "Let's interdict!" T: "Nah, let's kill them. [Later...] "Oh crap, we have to explain why that was OK to do."

True but... In fact CA LWV is against any form of gerrymandering in all states, so they are urging against the CA proposal. I appreciate their purity of motive, but there are only 2 parties, one pro-autocracy and the other against. Whichever has more Reps in the House in 2026 holds power.

No, but got one from CA League of Women Voters today, which is a real disappointment. We can tell our grandchildren how proud we were to take the high road, all the way to the end of our democratic republic.

@ezralevin.bsky.social , CA pushing redistricting in response to TX reminds me of Luthen's speech in Andor S1: "I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them." It's the only path to defeat autocracy; anything less is conceding the end of our Constitutional Republic.
