Yoshida was killed and/or eaten by Death and turned into one of her pawns, then given the role of being the on switch/trigger of whatever plan she has against Yoru.
She did this because Yoshida cannot be harmed or killed by Denji nor Yoru.

I think there’s enough evidence to consider it confirmed that octopus lives inside Yoshida. but consider- it’s not just an aki & future situation. Octopus lives in his body acting as his muscular system.

it’s such a cool aspect of yoshida’s powers that he can summon tentacles- with presumably the same speed and strength as octopus’ tentacles have shown elsewhere- from his body
