Enjoying learning about birds and birding whilst getting as far away from the city as possible.
Great days birding at North cave wetlands yesterday was finished with a starling extravaganza
The final throes are below.

Final trip of the year to Spurn turned up a few little crackers.
Shore larks being one of the first birds of the day was definitely a good sign

Belated pics of an enjoyable (but tiring) days birding at Spurn and Welwick saltmarsh. Finally came across some glossy ibis. I was starting to think I might be the only birder who'd not seen any of the influx

Took the trains down to Oakham yesterday to see the Baird's Sandpiper at Rutland water. Met some nice fellow birder and had a cracking brownie at the cafe. Good day off.

Showing my appreciation for the cracking little Red-necked Phalarope that has been kind enough to hang around until the weekend bus to Spurn. Fantastic bird.

I found this box tree moth in our conservatory this morning and after reading up a little more it seems it's not too popular. Beautiful all the same

Finally had the chance to visit Wykeham forest this morning to join a small group in waiting for the Ortolan bunting. Half decent views after a few hours along with a lovely Female Crossbill was quite enough to make it a good morning.

Bit of a late one but a post work train ride meant I got to see the visiting Song sparrow at Flamborough in all it's lovely LBJ glory

Great morning on Filey Cliff top with the Eastern subalpine warbler. Eventually showed well and managed to get more than half bird/half stick in the end.

This weekend I got to enjoy the infamous weed dance of the Great crested grebe at North Cave.
Bonkers yet beautiful at the same time.

A trip across the Humber bridge for a sun drenched morning of birding at Far ings reserve. A booming bittern made a small appearance for a frog breakfast and the marsh harrier’s were busy
