Allotmenteer with a seed problem. Keen cook and baker. A bit loopy about Bradford City. Likes history and travel by rail.
I think we will be alright for chilli jam this year. The variety is Pavelec. A nice medium heat. Lots more on the plant.

Three more aubergines! Plus Storm Floris did for 3 of my bean wigwams, but with the assistance of OH they are upright once again with a Heath Robinson type arrangement. Several stout hazel poles were snapped in two. Our site is high up though.

I have braided my Provence Wight garlic. Not bad. In splendid news I have managed to grow an aubergine! Variety is Diamond grown outside in a pot resulted in much better pollination.

Too hot to do much at the allotment. I have spent a good deal of the morning sat beneath the apple tree. Signed someone up for a difficult plot. Dug a few potatoes, picked some leaf beet, raspberries, peas and the 1st courgette.
Spinach and potato curry tonight.

The squash and pumpkins are getting under way. Rambling in all sorts of directions as per usual. I am growing Blue Ballet, Flat White Boer, Winter Luxury, Kabocha and Thelma Sanders Sweet Potato Acorn. Rouge vif d'etampes is in another bed.

Another year, another carrot cake for our son Joe's birthday. Nigel Slater's recipe minus the walnuts. Joe's favourite cake.

A birthday carrot cake for our son. Your recipe @nigelslater.bsky.social minus the walnuts. He doesn't like walnuts but it is his favourite cake. He always asks for it.

I loved the handwritten footnote on this poster at Glastonbury. I pinched it from Prof. Alice Roberts.

Winter veg. It was a tad frosty at the allotment this afternoon.
Leeks, Savoy cabbage, red cabbage, sprouts and leaf beet.

A warm pumpkin scone for a cold day in Yorkshire. In this case a squash scone made with home grown Sucrette squash. Not as neat as in @nigelslater.bsky.social recipebook, but very tasty.

Visited the Pitti Palace and the Boboli Gardens in Florence on "free Sunday". Not too crowded this morning and warm and sunny too.
