the most effective tactic i found for getting anti vax parents to vaccinate was not information and facts and not validating their fears
it was making it personal, telling them i felt like they were accusing me of poisoning their children, or calling ME a bad parent for vaccinating MY kids

it works best in false realities
like cults and fascism and centrism

but if you want people to grapple with reality and the actual way to address it, it isn't through snuggled

it's not about making them like you

it's about them changing their mind

the idea that a person has to LIKE you or feel validated to change their opinion is overrated

no they don't like it and yes they will call you an asshole
but if enough people tell them their position is bullshit and unacceptable the more likely they are to reexamine it
the social acceptability of your politics matters in how people formulate their positions

ok but yeah they're hypocrites we know that already

the shit with vaccines and pasteurization and meat standards is going to kill MILLIONS of people, mostly children and the elderly
