generally i think a lot of ppl sort of get this but too quickly latch onto a previous form of meaning (religion n spirituality etc) as being fundamental to it, rather than just a particular game everyone was in on for a stretch of time

rlly the extent to which there's a pervasive mood of 'meaning' having evacuated modernity is the result of consensus/agreement (mb even democracy as such) having assumed a diminished pedigree

continental heidegger trad says meaning/knowledge is something hidden/obscured/buried/secret etc — im much more inclined towards meaning being a game a la wittgenstein

like idk maybe theres this sense that, ai has finally closed off the non woo woo side of art, so people have to retreat/double down on meaning in art being this ineffable quantity only accessible to the truly sensitive/whimsical(?) — which seems like buying into the ai hypemen's spiel by negation

also like how Meaning seems like it's framed as something totally interior and individual, like it's a sort of spiritual conquest one sets out on to find within the rubble of culture. maybe its just a vibe ive felt but i do think it feels like some sort of trend

maybe it's post 'ai' ubiquity, but it seems rlly noticeable to me that not only have tech people become more Spiritual about things, but also the opposition to that whole faction, like as if ppl are battling over who has the genuine say on the soul/heart/spirit of creativity
