My vision is that all our neighbors have equal access to schools, parks, open spaces with housing in all shapes/sizes that meets different income needs…

We already cut down the trees.

Street trees 🌳 > Trees on private property

Now we need to make compact cities with infill housing where public spaces are close by and accessible by everyone…

The Housing Crisis Is A Democracy Crisis
This country was founded on the idea of being rooted to where you live — but the corporate state has flipped the script.

HOW SOON CAN WE GET BRUCE HARRELL OUT OF OFFICE?!?

It’s almost as if nothing is well thought out and everything is just for show with this mayor…
Harrell's "Emergency" Legislation on Covenants that Limit Grocery Store Sizes Won't Address Seattle's Food Deserts

Both of the city's examples of sites with restrictive covenants were redeveloped as grocery stores.

I think you can stick a fork in the Bruce Harrell administration. Hopefully, the deputy mayor is shown the door as well…
NEW: After paying for hotel rooms to shelter homeless people, Seattle deliberately left them vacant.

By the end of 2024, taxpayers were spending $4,200 a month per empty room at a time when thousands of residents were without a roof over their heads.
Seattle Spent Millions on Hotel Rooms to Shelter Unhoused People. Then It Stopped Filling Them.
Early last year, the city signed a $2.7 million lease extension to continue using a hotel’s rooms as shelter space. Yet despite committing to pay the rent, the city stopped sending people there.

We can’t out raise the billionaires in Medina funding Harrell’s Super PAC, but we do outnumber them. How many people can donate $25 to the progressive PAC fighting back? Donate and share!

Silicon Valley’s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we can’t depend on US tech companies.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!
Getting off US tech: a guide
I’m in the process of dropping US tech services. Here’s how I did it, and options you should consider.

It would be interesting to have someone compare and contrast Robert Weaver’s research with Alan Malloch’s with respect to the history of the HOLC’s maps which predicted redlining in cities across the country…
This month marks 60 years since the founding of HUD, even as its programs are being defunded and its iconic DC headquarters put up for sale.

In our latest newsletter, we recommend a 2022 essay in Places about Robert C. Weaver, the first HUD Secretary, whose legacy deserves to be more widely known.

This headline initially confused me — “Vancouver Council drops parking requirements for affordable housing” — since I was pretty sure Vancouver had done that (& more) a long time ago.

Then I realized this is the OTHER Vancouver (in Washington State USA).

In any case, EVERY city should do this.
Vancouver drops parking requirements for affordable housing developments
The city of Vancouver will no longer require parking spots for new affordable housing in hopes of cutting project costs and making room for more units.
