On a positive note, I'm about to finish my second short story collection and am already getting published in some journals. Maybe my literature is stronger than my science at the end.

I realise how lucky I am that my parents are alive, there's a house I could always live in, there's enough to keep me going. I guess this is my kind of privilege.

It is cool to read how big science names became big and it always sounds like they're incredibly smart and hardworking. No mention of money or nationality in those stories.

So it's easy to start feeling dumb and incompetent as if you could control everything with enough brain power and motivation.

Darwin was sent on a colonial ship and discovered a lot, I might be sent back home once my visa expires. I like to encourage all students to study what I studied, but I don't think loving science is enough sometimes.

You need luck, money and some privilege.
