I think about this way more than I should. In 5,000 years, people are likely to know more about the ancient Sumerians and Romans who carved history into clay and stone than about the people of the 21st century, who store their information digitally.
Even on the small scale we are creating more and more digital artifacts that will (very likely) just go go *poof* at some point and no one will uncover them from a dusty attic
This era is strange because it is both socially/culturally regressive, yet technologically accelerationist.
Backward + forward at the same time. With human erasure being the goal.
I think those interested in cultural preservation, archival work— resisting erasure will be *especially* important.

Why? Who is this meant to be good for? Nobody wants your shit AI books, never mind 8,000 in a year. Just a terrible idea and a horrible road the publishing industry is heading down.
