Just finished The Reckoning, my first foray into John Grisham. One of the more depressing books I’ve ever read. Don’t get me wrong, it’s incredibly well written with a rich plot. I kept expecting a redemption arc that never came, and read of the burdens put on children for the sins of their parents

If that’s not the most El Mago swing then I don’t know what is. Breaking ball way out of the zone is like catnip to a cat for Javy. Nevertheless, love the dude and love to see him playing well

Oh cmon man. ABS will be a welcome new addition. In a game this big, this is malpractice

Well the Cubs are going to disappoint and go on a season-long 5 game losing streak right at crunch time, but at least I’ve got some heirloom tomatoes and thick luck bacon to hold me tight

Nextdoor is craaaazy lol like WTF is this?? This is in my neighborhood. No comments after 3 hrs which is disappointing. Obvi all I can hear is Sam Richardson singing “who will be the baby of the year” in I Think You Should Leave. Get a grip y’all, ain’t nobody care about voting for no baby

Just finished reading The Staircase in the Woods by Chuck Wendig @chuckwendig.bsky.social and it was SO good. Uber creepy, well-developed characters, and a powerful story about the trauma others don’t see. Would love this made into a movie just so I can see the character depictions at the end👹

I’m now reading A Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware @ruthwarewriter.bsky.social which I’m really digging so far. Much tension, much brooding, much foreshadowing. A nice psychological thriller

I just randomly got sad remembering that former ESPN analyst John Clayton isn’t here any longer. In the pantheon of all-time great personalities during ESPN’s hay day. He also gave us one of the greatest commercials ever made

Now reading: A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor by Hank Green @hankgreen.bsky.social. I blew through the first installment and was SO stoked to see the follow up readily available on Libby #Booksky

Honestly interesting choice having Jabba the Hutt as a play-by-play announcer for the MLS Leagues Cup Final, but props for creativity. Sumn whacky going on with the sound lol

Happy #Caturday! This isn’t even my cat, just a neighborhood kitty named Marley who loves coming over to kick it with me. Boy was trying to his paws on my gyoza - I don’t think so little baby!

Now reading the second installment of Stephen King’s Dark Tower series titled The Drawing of Three. Really enjoyed the first, high hopes for this one. I’ve been on quite a Stephen Kick of late #Booksky

Now reading: The Stand by Stephen King. A hulking beast of a book

Almost done with The Institute by @stephenking.bsky.social. This book is SO entertaining. If you’re a fan of his extrasensory stories, then you’ll love this. About 3/4 of the way through, and I am enthralled. I’ve basically plowed through this book without realizing

Gotta say I’m a bit disappointed with this heat level. Has a small amount of numbing heat, but I was hoping to get zooted. Added sautéed onions and garlic, as well as some shredded pork bbq. All in all it’s got a really nice flavor, just oversold the heat

Damn man, so the Cubs TRIPLED their run count from yesterday and still can’t win. Smdh. So anyways, now watching something light and fun: Chief of War
