I think this is part of the "voice is another instrument" thing, though, even for pop music. Like, in the same way as a metal band is choosing vocals based on tone color, a pop artist is choosing vocals based on communicating a character.

I think people who won't show up to an anti-war protest because PSL is there go in the same category as people who won't show up because of organizers trying to collect emails. It's fear and laziness looking for a more dignified excuse to do nothing.

The revenge fantasy people don't even qualify as anprims. Anprims are people who will argue in a bar for hours about what kinds of hand signals the small scale justice system should use.

The shift from slavery to serfdom started under roman law, and serfs had meaningfully more rights than slaves. It's legitimately better to have some limited rights than to be worked to death in a Roman copper mine.

Then you have the problem that a South that could make the war not about slavery may not have formed the Confederacy in the first place.

US Civil War games have this same issue. They want to sell a game where the Confederacy can win on the ground, but the Confederacy's actual path to victory was to make the war not about slavery and pull in Britain.
