I believe this is an article that would be helpful to a lot of people around my age. Cooking healthy can feel overwhelming, and eating out gets expensive. Having quick, healthier fast-food options takes away some of the stress and time pressure.

I’ve learned how deeply nutrition shapes health outcomes, quality of life, and long-term wellbeing. Because many people are overwhelmed by conflicting health informations, as a professional, I would offer simple, realistic guidance for my patients.

Since it is thanksgiving week, I wanted to share a credible nutrition post relating to thanksgiving. What surprised me was that cooking turkey with the skin on doesn’t make it fattier, and therefore it is a myth to cook the turkey without the skin to reduce fat!

I would look for check for the inclusion of a credible evidence when looking at a nutrition source. I would also consider the nutrition source credible if the author or the site of the post is credible.

Thinking back to being finding a credible, yet 'easier to read' article, I believe articles made by a reputable person can be trusted and shared in the future.

For the ultraprocessed food quiz reflection, I stated that the length of the ingredient list generally showed if the food was ultraprocessed or not. This post shows that it is not true, - food with many healthy components could also have a long list - what matters is transparency.

The interaction with the MD shows how healthcare providers should be mindful on their language - especially towards ppl that are easily stigmatized. I also learned that support is crucial to ppl that are on these journeys, and everyone has a different journey that works.

This would be a diet advise that I would give to an overweight person with a bad health habit. Rather than focusing on blaming an individual for having an unhealthy habit, it is crucial to give them a workable plan considering their situation.
Greasy foods are tasty but can cause bloating, weight gain, and increased health risks if eaten excessively. Fried foods slow digestion, strain your gut, and impair brain function. Opt for grilled, baked, or air-fried instead. #NationalGreasyFoodsDay www.healthline.com/nutrition/gr...

#beh353 @beh353.bsky.social I have learned how obesity is caused by various reasons, beyond people's health habits which is the general stigma in obesity. Moving forward, I want to be more mindful of the language I use when talking about health by focusing on wellbeing to reduce unconscious stigma.

The overflow of products that are sold in supermarkets that seems to all be very 'healthy' takes a role in making it harder for customers to really pick out what they need. In my case, it is energy consuming to grocery shop and I eventually doordash/uber food which is mostly unhealthy.

My barrier is the widespread presence of unhealthy food, as the food I have easy access to is mostly unhealthy food. When there is not enough time to cook or get food from a far away restaurant, I only option is to go to the cafeteria which mainly sells fast food.

Vitamin B12 is an essential vitamin that is absorbed through your stomach, and can be taken through supplements or food. After reading this article, I was surprised at how easy it was to intake B12 and how much benefits it had.

I have also seen these 'myths' through various outlets including popular press articles and online media. Because it is hard to make people engage in deeper research on these information, I found this article that debunks the information valuable as it comes from a credible source.

I wanted to share this post because everyone should be able to at least meet the essential nutrition standards. This is sad to find out as if we do not know who needs help, it gets harder for them to receive the help that they truly need.
If the annual food insecurity survey is canceled - the US has no way to monitor how often this experience is happening.

1 in 5 children in Kentucky are food insecure (do not have enough to eat). This is a 48% rise in two years.

I researched keto diet, and I learned that the name came from the metabolic state of ketosis. Since I do believe carbs are an important nutrient that people must consume, I have questions regarding what might happen if one continues doing keto for a long period of time.

I believe this is a great resource for being able to meet the dietary guidelines discussed in the lecture, as it shows the different sources of protein. Not only taking protein is important, but also knowing different sources of protein is crucial as it is better to have a varying protein routine.

#beh353 @beh353.bsky.social I usually get a coke with sandwich that has lettuce, turkey, and mayonnaise. I could make this more nutrient dense by adding carrots and tomatoes, and also by substituting with whole-grain bread, a low fat sauce, and a low fat dairy drink.

Looking back, I was surprised to realize that I was not eating any fruits. I do not think my refection was very accurate as I could not recall all the portions and condiments that I would have consumed, and it was pretty hard as I have had a mixture of different foods.

I believe this relates to the fun fact and the lecture, as the blog post talks about different types of added sugar such as cane sugar or honey, which nutritionally all have similar effects. Natural sugar is what we should choose when intaking sugar, as it has nutritional benefits.
September 20, 2025 at 4:59 PM
One fun fact I found out was that companies come up with different 'names' for sugar. When looking for healthier alternatives, I would think that 'evaporated cane juice' is more organic and 'healthier' than sugar, and would choose the product.

This relates to the lecture videos this week, as through a popular press resource, we have been told we must consume more vitamin B through supplements. However, the post reveals that there is an adequate amount of vitamin B needed to us, and how some people do not need those supplements.
