The percent are for households so it not comparable to people in poverty which will larger. Let me look at the household poverty rate vs general poverty rate for that county.

Very different setup from many cities. Depending on how long the federal government remains shut down, the city may have to step in with financial support. Food banks are already starting to see an increase in new users.

The lack of food has the potential to cause tremendous social suffering for residents across the city. You can’t always plan for a tornado, but you can and should plan for a disaster that is developing.This is why Mayors activated emergency plans for their residents. Its about the dignity residents.
