Yarra Residents Collective
@yarraresidents.bsky.social
Residents & ratepayers in the City of Yarra who want to see the council return to putting us first. A broken council with a broken culture that needs fixing.
Our message to the state government - You represent the people, this isn't "Us" vs "Them". Listen to the people who form the communities we live in. In the end, the mutually agreeable solution was better for everyone. (6/6)

You may remember we formed a similar campaign for the Victoria Park train station debacle and helped the Clifton Hill residents on this using that knowledge and what we learnt. (4/6)

We thank the government and metro for coming to the table on this however we do lament that no community in Victoria should ever have to form such a large organised campaign to be listened to for what was a very reasonable requests from residents. (3/6)

Despite initially saying they could do nothing, a series of media coverage resulted in a last minute change of heart and agreeing to replace the 2 large omnidirectional electronic bells with individual unidirectional pedestrian bells at each pedestrian gate. (2/6)

The state government and the Greens are refusing to do that positioning themselves directly against the community. (11/11)

According to the Greens and the state Governmnet who are in lockstep, people committting illegal activities deserve to be protected above that of local residents. You can both support the implementation of an MSIR and accept that the current implementation has failed. (10/11)

Criminals and illegal drug users are entitled to wellbeing ahead of the local residents. This is exactly why the current state government is getting absolutely reamed for being soft on the youth crime crisis. (9/11)

What choice do the residents have to be represented when both the Greens MP and state Labor's likely candidate as well as the Premier have abandoned them? Rather than trying to fix it, the state government is sticking its fingers in its ears and saying too bad. (8/11)

State Premier Jacinta Allan rather than admitting failures, doubled down reaffirming support for the MSIR along with the likely candidate for Richmond, Cr Sarah McKenzie who made a public statement in its support aligning with the Greens position Gabrielle De Vietri today. (7/11)
November 12, 2025 at 9:43 AM
The only reason that Victoria has been limited to a single MSIR is because of the failure of the current one. Not a single other council or community in the state is prepared to have one after this dismal failure. (6/11)

The residents have put up with thge gaslighting of the government who repeatedly have shown they are more interested in siding with criminals and illegal drug users between a state wide crime crisis and the failure of the positioning of the MSIR next to a primary school. (5/11)

To have one, there is a social contract with the area it is placed in to improve the amenity of the area and not make it worse. Instead, in Richmond what was installed was a Drug Disneyland for people breaking the law. (4/11)

The excellent moton put forward by Crs Meca Ho and Evangeline Aston is long overdue and finally acknowledges the long suffering residents of Richmond and Abbotsford. There should be an MSIR. It should not be next to a school. (3/11)
November 12, 2025 at 9:43 AM
The evidence shows the MSIR has made the area worse, not better breaking a key measure the success of the MSIR was predicated upon. This is about reversing a long standing state government policy to prioritise illegal drug users and criminals over the wellbeing of locals. (2/11)

Adam Promnitz, from the Strata Owners Alliance, called the situation a crisis.
“We think VCAT screwed up and has left every owner in Victoria worse off with this crazy decision,” he said. “It was a howler from the umpire.” (2/6)
