Yarra Residents Collective
@yarraresidents.bsky.social
Residents & ratepayers in the City of Yarra who want to see the council return to putting us first. A broken council with a broken culture that needs fixing.
A great outcome and win for the residents of Clifton Hill who can sleep well again. It shows the importance of a strong campaign of locals when things seem hopeless.

A great win after a campaign by Clifton Hill residents following Metro "upgrading" the bells to new electronic ones which broadcast across the neighbourhood. (1/6)

The decision by Yarra Council to call for the Medically Supervised injection room to be moved is the correct one and a watershed moment in the History of Yarra. It acknowledges that mistakes have been made and represents the residents who the prior policy had failed. (1/11)

Quotes from article: Mr Jolly slammed the Allan government and the Greens for “gaslighting” residents about the safety of the MSIR.

“There’s an unholy alliance between the state government and the Greens to gaslight the locals and they just don’t want to (1/2)

The state government refusing to listen to Clifton Hill locals is cruel and unusual punishment. Solutions exist which will let residents sleep again but the State Government and Metro are stubbornly refusing to budge and compromise.

Noisy machinery 3am in the morning multiple times is just taking the piss a little bit. Every contractor knows this is against noise laws. Residents around Victoria Park in Abbotsford need to be treated with respect.

Now, to fix the Clifton Hill Ramsden St obnoxiously loud bells...

Richmond is going to be included in an expanded congestion levy zone for parking which is clearly just a new tax to revenue raise to pay for the State government's deficit. (1/4)

Good. The MAV is self serving and not in the interests of residents and ratepayers. They are one of a handful of lobby groups which operate in this space.

The MAV has previously supported things like the bin taxes and more recently the state mandated ESV levy.

The entire existince of the MSIR was based on a social contract with locals that it would improve the area. It has not. It made worse. From the article:

From the article:
But mayor Jolly said he would not be lectured from a Labor councillor and a party which had been behind the eight-ball on climate measures.
“What we have done at Yarra is more than any council.

You really have to wonder why the last Yarra council was in such a rush to do "ME FIRST" and sign up for glass recycling, which virtually anyone with common sense would have advised to wait and see before signing up for a lot of cost for questionable benefit. (1/2)

The Elizabeth Street Fiasco is Finally Over
After five years of upheaval and community frustration, the Greens-dominated council’s disastrous design for Elizabeth Street is being undone. (1/6)

It's about celebrating the heritage and intrinsic link between Richmond and the footy. If you go to any other state and mention Richmond, the first thing people think of is the footy.

Finally a councillor in Yarra that is doing something positive for Richmond and supportive of sport.

"An AFL finals festival would be held in Swan St, Richmond, in September next year under a bold plan by a City of Yarra councillor. (1/2)

"A 20cm replica of the banana has been sighted in Richmond Town Hall. It was meant as a reminder of the controversy. But now it’s vanished too."

If the state government wants to introduce new taxes, they should at least own it. Getting councils to do their dirty work at grassroots level is a bit pathetic and spineless.

Do the Greens ever take responsibility? Bandt conceded and here is the list of everyone he has blamed for his loss so far (note no mention of the mammoth swing against him):
- Peter Dutton
- Donald Trump
- Liberals
- One Nation Party
- Others not preferencing him

The ABC just announced Adam Bandt has LOST the seat of Melbourne.

We congratulate the Yarra Greens and their front groups on the invaluable role they played in getting this exceptional result in alienating so many people in the community. (1/2)

A peaceful and highly effective rally organised by the local Vietnamese Traders Association supported by local residents and community telling the state government that the safety issues and neglect in the area is completely unacceptable. RichmondRally did a great job. (1/2)

Wrong Way - Go Back! Greens
@gabrielledevietri.bsky.social and
@timreadgreens.bsky.social lecturing others on safety while they ride the wrong way down the lane.

By the way, they lost and the council voted to fix the street.

Chùa Phước Tường - The Richmond Buddhust Temple hosted the local community and friends to celebrate and say thank you for supporting them in achieving a balanced outcome for Elizabeth St this morning. What a great community to support and be part of. (1/3)

1 Hour Free Parking Pilot for Richmond Shopping Strips from July 1. Thanks to the fantastic work of Andrew Davies, City of Yarra Councillor who fought for this, there is finally tangible real progress to help Richmond being delivered with the great support of Mayor Stephen Jolly. (1/3)

Yarra just voted after 5 years to fix Elizabeth Street. A win for the community that had been discriminated against after the two prior councils just pushed political ideology. Finally this council has voted with its residents on Elizabeth St.

Yarra voted for change. (1/3)
