Like this is objectively irrational. It’s not even principled but imprudent because the principled position would both be advocating doing a lot more than just abstaining from voting it like y’a know a tax strike.

you should not give any legitimacy to a system that permits genocide then you should be advocating and doing a whole lot more than mere electoral abstention (you should probably at least be advocating and doing a tax strike for instance).

Because either a. even in the first scenario there’s still pretty good strategic reasons to prefer the less authoritarian party in power even if you’re ultimate goal is a revolutionary overthrow and b. if we’re going to make this a matter of principle then the principle that

Maybe so but unless you have a plan to make that happen or are at least willing to advocate that people do more than useless electoral abstentionism then there is simply no good reason to not vote for the lesser evil.

I would stop taking the medicine even if I didn’t have something else to take. Such is the case with prisons if they don’t actually solve the problem they’re intended to solve and also bring forth their own unique pathologies (some of which are contingent and some of which are inherent)

Again please learn to read. The argument isn’t that these things can’t be increased or decreased! It’s that prison is probably not very decisive in the lowering of these thing especially vis a vis things like gene higher standards of living and changes in overall social mores.
