The ERA is such a basic, straightforward declaration - really something you'd expect any worth a shit country to inherently have in their foundational laws - that sitting here in 2025 with it *still* not on the books is about as heavy of a condemnation of this society as you can get
The ERA has ironically become a marker of how far we've backslid on women's rights. It passed Congress nearly 50 years ago, but there's basically no chance it would pass today.

Sarah McBride shouldn’t have to deal with this shit. She shouldn’t be defined by it.

I am a school librarian, and I am BEGGING people to post sources when they say this or that is happening/did happen. So many people go “OMG this happened” without CITING A SOURCE! Used to find the people going “source?” annoying, but no. They’re right! Cite your damned source!

I would like to speak up today for the trans community.
You see, I know a bit of what it’s like to be politically scapegoated. When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, suddenly anyone in America who had any amount of Japanese ancestry became suspect. Politicians preyed upon ignorance and fear. /1
