Nah, that's a myth to get you to work harder for less! Unemployment is just the state of not having a job, it doesn't say anything about your worth inherently, and people negging you or others are not making the actual problem (terrible job market) go away. You contribute plenty just by existing! <3

It's okay for that to bother you. Lack of empathy is so common these days, especially when someone needs to feel better about themselves and can take it out on a stranger with next to no repercussions. Take it one day at a time, you'll be okay. :)
