DCPS won’t step up, but the Washington Teachers’ Union will! Thank you!

Reading about a conflict I am so embarrassed I don’t know enough about given its extent and longevity. Great scholarship, highly recommended.

This blocking of Afghans granted asylum from being able to unite with relatives in the U.S. is insane.

This is right next to Fort Reno Park. High schoolers walking to Jackson Reed and Middle Schoolers to Deal across the park walk through here ON THEIR OWN every morning at this time.

Four cars filled with ICE masked agents accosted a driver across the street from Jackson Reed High school, claiming a traffic stop but there was no traffic violation. Observers taping and asking questions loudly likely is why ICE left. Principal says if not on school property, nothing he will do.

INSANE that the U.S. is designating long lists of countries to accept the deportation of non nationals.
The US has never done this before, even at a time when there was an entire “iron” block of countries that refused to provide travel documents for its nationals. More than 3 countries unheard of.

Everybody in DC who is in secure status should be out in force today to protest and stand in solidarity with our immigrant neighbors.

As I walk to my office building, I spoke to these Guard, asking how are you liking this deployment because honestly it’s pissing me off. They said they were from Louisiana, that they weren’t scary, and they didn’t know how long they’d be here and it was fine so long as they had coffee in morning.

I think we know which countries the Trump admin plans to make deportation agreements with— now that their human rights records have been sanitized

Resented having to chauffeur my daughter home at 11 pm on a sweltering Sunday night but spotted an OWL just hanging around DC and I feel like I’m gonna have good luck this week. How cool is this.
