bungie is of course not obligated to hire me when making a game that draws overwhelmingly from the same design language i have refined for the last decade, but clearly my work was good enough to pillage for ideas and plaster all over their game without pay or attribution.

Read what I wrote again, but more slowly. We agree on this. He was not part of ISIS, but he was part of its predecessor.

I'm not saying he's a good guy but calling him an ISIS-affiliate is not accurate at all.

Jolani has a history of conflict with Al Qaeda and ISIS because he came to feel that international terrorism was undermining the cause of the rebellion in Syria. To that end, he declared war on the Syrian Al Qaeda Hurras al-Din and drove them out of Idlib.

But they haven't been part of Al Qaeda either for many years.

A former Al Qaeda affiliate that separated from the organization that eventually became ISIS before it was ISIS.

Not an ISIS affiliate.

It seems reasonable to speculate that his family's connection to healthcare is part of what drove him down this path. His LinkedIn says he volunteered 10 years ago at his family's assisted living facility Lorien Health Services while he was still in high school.

Which rebel group is an ISIS affiliate? HTS wants to create a Syrian state with Islam as the state religion, not a caliphate. A caliphate implies an ambition to conquer the entire Islamic world. Very, very different.

And since that other person responded and then blocked me to have the last word, I'll just point out that the only reason that Lebanon and Syria are fighting with Israel is because they support the destruction of Israel. If it was "fascist expansion" then Israel would attack Jordan, but they don't.

When have any of these states attacked Israel?
December 9, 2024 at 2:07 PM
You said Lebanon and Syria can't fight back against Israel because of US involvement. Why are they fighting Israel? Remind me, please.
December 9, 2024 at 1:48 PM
When on Earth did I say that? I said that Syria is being bombed by Israel because they're hostile to Israel, not that Israel is responsible for the rebellion.

In terms of religious doctrine, it's not entirely clear whether they're so different, but one of them got into the headlines for the Bataclan massacre, beheading journalists, and Yezidi sex slaves, while the other did not.

His disagreement with Al Qaeda stemmed from his belief that calling for attacks on the West was counterproductive to the cause of the rebels in Syria. It attracted unwanted Western attention. Of course, ISIS pissing off foreign countries is part of why ISIS failed while HTS is ascendant.

He was never in ISIS, but he was part of Al Qaeda in Iraq before it became ISIS. After that, he founded Al Nusra in Syria. It started as a branch of AQI, but became an independent Al Qaeda branch, then later broke ties with Al Qaeda before merging into HTS.
