"A 2023 study concluded that 'plant-based diets produce 75% less heat-trapping gas, generate 75% less water pollution and use 75% less land than meat-rich diets.'"

More on co-benefits of diet shifts & ways to promote them in the UK:

In solidarity with the flotilla heading towards Gaza (with Greta Thunberg and many others on board), but targeted with attacks:

Also: A collapse of the AMOC would (or will? But scientists are not sure when...) make the impacts of climate change on rainfall in the UK more dramatic still (+ add huge other impacts, especially Arctic-like winter temperatures)

Unfortunately we only have small fragments of the temperate rainforest that would thrive in most high humidity/temperature areas in the west, bringing much biodiversity & climate regulation benefits, because we've deforested and let loose a species that doesn't belong here. Sheep density in Europe:

The map only shows rainfall distribution: floods, storms, sea level rise (& perhaps freezeing weather if/when AMOC collapses) are also climate change impacts! It also indicates to some extent where we could have rainforest again shorturl.at/KSxVY - if we reduce livestok shorturl.at/w3RGr

Mission accomplished?
A pretty debilitated millionaire at the end of the 'Make Them Pay' march today in London

I've just received 👇
Prof Lenton, a top expert in climate change & earth system science - and friend of XR - promotes powerful positive tipping points, incl. the adoption of more plant-based diets. It's essential, it's win-win-win, and could easily spread by social contagion.
Let's make it happen?

We can have dual use with more sustainable farming options - and/or farmers should be supported to just provide biodiversity, helping pollinators and birds and restoring the land.

I don't think XR should promote sheep farming in countries where it is well known to have caused significant climate and ecological harm, like Australia or the UK!
August 27, 2025 at 9:10 PM
Livestock - mostly ruminants like cattle & sheep - has caused ~25% of current warming (+ other harms) & there's clear scientific consensus: we urgently need to reduce numbers. Agrovoltaics can be done with more sustainable options: crops, fruit, berries, or just biodiversity...
