NYT subscriber. Reading about beliefs and alignments, preference cascades, Persia and Iraq.
Both these commentators are wrong because most people can’t think to begin with and the vast majority of beliefs and alignments are pre-rational. and this is true for all strata of society and all levels of IQ. just with the higher IQ comes better rationalisations, not wisdom or intelligence.

Disliked this album a lot for years; started listening to it again recently and it really grew on me. It’s not Slim Shady, it’s not 1999, but it is technically good and the beats are quite good. The songs are pretty strong overall, you just have to accept it’s v different from his classic era stuff.

iirc Michèle Flournoy wrote a 400 page book on exactly why this is a terrible idea. “Every tool a hammer… every problem a nail”. Worth reading, even if it didn’t warrant praise quite as superlative as it received.
