There are some extremely Scottish voice actors in the game though, as you get into the story.

And 2 started as my least fav Xeno game. It's now probably my favorite.

In hindsight, the characters didn't really appeal to me at first either. At the end of it, I'd honestly die defending most of them. 2 relies on character story and development more than 1 did which also makes it a journey to actually LIKE them.

Depends on your preferences. I love all 4 available on switch. 1 has a good, solid story, 2 relies heavily on character development for story, 3 is emotional warfare when you've played 1 and 2 and X is a delightfully alien world.

Agreed. For all that I love 3's story overall, and yes, I can see what ppl mean when they say 2 has a 'thinner' story than 1 and 3, 2 has exactly that, the story told in characters, their interactions and their growth as people. And that honestly works better for me.

You'd be right. The OG WiiU version had this as well. It only impacts the mini-boss/boss battle you're fighting, if I remember it right, it doesn't carry over into continuing play, which I quite liked.

I find 3's combat the most intuitive (mix of 1 and 2), 2's confusing as hell (mostly because the tutorials aren't helping), 1 is quite straight forward. X makes me cackle during fights.

But all in all, hope you enjoy it, and the combat is fine! A matter of taste, yes, but I for one enjoy it.

Still among my favs, but definitely coloured what I look for in a game.
