I'm delighted Laura has driven this momentous effort and am so excited to hear her speak at the event. As someone who often is that token, last minute, diversity invite to a manel, I appreciate the sentiment and there are indeed times for calling this out. But I don't think that's the case here.

Our team at @unibirmingham.bsky.social have supported the UK National Screening Committee in the evidence approach for #AI in Diabetic Eye Screening over last few years.

In this paper we outline the NSC's considerations for evaluating ARIAs in England.

Great to be at NICE Conference yesterday for a closing discussion on AI! Can we ensure evidence generation is as adaptive and intelligent as the technology, without compromising definitions of 'Safe, Effective and Equitable & do it in a way that is collaborative, transparent and trustworthy?

The MHRA has just announced 5 AI products for its Airlock (Regulatory Sandbox) programme. I’m on the governance board and am excited to see this take flight.

The products include:
- two LLM based devices
- a platform
- a personalised care product (breast cancer)
- a risk prediction product (COPD)

My talk had one message "AI without monitoring is AI at-risk". We need more NHS system readiness investment. I'm excited that we will start work on defining what organisational AI readiness looks like.

Rob Turin, BSI: BS30440 standards were developed for AI validation. Good start when we had nothing to work on, but long term impact of standard - TBD.

Russell Pearson from MHRA - MHRA has published tonnes of guidance already and more to come. Alignment amongst regulators (internationally) important. Do check out AIDRS (UK multi-regulator forum). And #AI Airlock (exciting and important) - sandbox exploring novel regulatory challenges posed by AI .
