Yeah, at Uni it was just bass guitar. I may have helped the town brass band out from time to time when I was home for holidays.

At first glance I was hoping the game genie was some kind of converter cart. Still remember stacking the Megadrive, MegaCD, 32X and the master system converter just to marvel at the ridiculous Stack-o-Sega I had made.

Then it's the Karaoke boombox, Mega CD, SNES+Super Mario, Gameboy, Mario kart, Starwing, Barcode battler and Trivial Pursuit.

Are any of the Mega CD titles superior choices? And I never saw a Game Genie in action so don't know if that's a better choice.

Organisations can mostly make only incremental improvements talent-wise. "Smarter" people may come to a "dumber" org because they're looking to exploit the gap for personal profit or because they don't have a better offer (but hope to eventually).

The Dilbert Effect summarised the practical problem. "You don't have to be a genius, but as long as you're smarter than everyone else around you, you're indistinguishable from a genius" (or something like that).

Peopleware highlighted the network effects, that the biggest predictor of a person doing well on their coding "test" was that someone else at the same organisation also did well.
