And all the post-election think pieces should be be focused on the question of why voters refused to accept that message from Biden and Harris. But that would lead inevitably to an examination of media coverage of Biden and of Harris.
In @jonathanweisman.bsky.social's magnum opus about Dems and the working class, it's at the end that you get the full truth about 2024: Biden-Harris ran the most pro-worker administration in decades, but voters blamed them for inflation anyway.

In other words, Trump’s tariffs were a colossal failure in his first term that cost us billlions.

Why don’t most Americans know this? If such a blunder happened in Biden’s first time wouldn’t it have been a top news story, raised again & again through the campaign?

It’s not just “civics” folks.
Trump talked abt tariffs as the answer to every economic challenge during the campaign (incl how he would deal w/the costs of child care). I didn’t see the media showing the electorate the costs of the bailouts provided to farmers for Trump’s first term tariff blunder. www.forbes.com/sites/stuart...
Trump Tariff Aid To Farmers Cost More Than U.S. Nuclear Forces
The $28 billion for farmers raises questions about using taxpayer money to shield policymakers from the consequences of tariff increases.

This. For most of these ‘journalistic’ takes, they really can’t fathom that for some of us, we actually have a standard of human decency… and reaction to when the line of inhumanity has been crossed.
What’s significant abt this embarrassingly myopic piece is the inability of so many who cover politics to believe that for many people the white supremacist, anti-Semitic, anti-trans, conspiracy theorist ravings of the owner & his supporters on the platform could actually be a dealbreaker.

A lot of people think everything will work out if we just play by the rules but don’t seem to recognize that rules only matter when everyone agrees to follow them and, well, that isn’t our present reality.

The decision to break the beloved Wicked musical into two separate movies was a TERRIBLE decision. Using 2 hrs & 40 mins to tell HALF the story was a disservice to everyone. I could feel the time filler and places they stretched things out and hated them all. Disappointed.
