I am not a staunch advocate or a moral detractor... I am not suggesting you *should* use it, and I'm not saying you shouldn't.

But, for the love of god, if you're going to make declarations one way or the other, PLEASE consider there is more to the conversation than your absolute opinion.

What I AM saying, is that thumbing your nose at one of the most commercially available technological advancements of our time without any nuance just makes you sound kinda myopic and dumb.

AI is a tool, just like any other tool... When used correctly by creative minds, it can lead to great things.

Now, to be clear, this isn't one of those "It's here so just get used to it" posts. I'm not suggesting at all that we shouldn't be aggressively advocating for safeguards and backend protections that come along with AI.

It definitely DOES have the opportunity for significant downsides.

And I legitimately learned some new techniques and developed some new skills as part of this process. Beyond that, it's being used to generate experiences and interactivity that literally isn't possible (at the moment) without it.

AI helped me offer something that took a LONG time and genuine effort to my players that would have been MUCH harder producing on my own (even though it's not 100% finished... my tablet broke).

I was never going to be able to pay an artist for this... But, AI allowed me to compensate with effort.

Many artists (myself included... kinda) use quick AI mock ups as references to draw their own art.

Left is AI based on the player's description of their character, right is the art I drew for them to use in our game.

It's not as good as a professional artist... But **I** drew it.

I've seen it quickly and cheaply generate concept art for a 3-person dev team so the tone/direction is clear before hiring real artists to create fully polished final assets. No jobs lost, no AI in the final product, and a super small team able to create something amazing beyond their means.

Please let this usher in a new age of humanity for us deserving few who have remained hopeful.

Fun fact... this is actually true.
