Round 2, Genestealers win by extremely narrow margin:
The Marine (center) has 8 action points. That’s enough to reach the target room and open the door. But he blocks the flamer’s line of fire from above. He lacks exactly 1 AP to move aside! In the next turn, both are overrun. #SpaceHulk #Warhammer

Very exciting: After a flanking attack by the Genestealers, all seemed lost. But the second flamer manages to turn the tide. The first one breaks through and destroys the target rooms with its last ammunition. The Genestealers' interception attempt comes one turn too late. #SpaceHulk #Warhammer

Everything is ready for the new mission. This time with a modern tile set. #SpaceHulk #Warhammer

I don't have the original dead Space Marine from the third/fourth edition of #SpaceHulk, so I improvised one myself. Beside him are the remnants of his foes from his last battle. The artifact to be retrieved is not a goblet, but his shield instead.

Go big or go home. If the large #SpaceHulk maps don't fit the table, well… we'll just built a second one. 😁

On the fourth attempt, they finally succeeded; this time the dice were on the Space Marines' side. After a massive carnage, the flamer reached the target room and burned it out. "Your mission was a glorious victory." #SpaceHulk #Warhammer

The second attempt also fails. This time, the genestealers receive a large supply of reinforcements and overwhelm the flamer's escort. He takes out three genestealers with a single shot, but is then caught in the back and killed due to a lack of cover. Mission failure. #SpaceHulk #Warhammer

Sunday, hobby time:
After a serious tactical error, the flamethrower is caught by a genestealer just before reaching the objective and killed in close combat. Mission failure, game over. #SpaceHulk #Warhammer

Sometimes you're just lucky: I got a complete first edition of Space Hulk on eBay. German version from 1989, in excellent condition.

Feels like the end of era. Today I assembled the last two of my original Genestealers from 1999. Laid in the closet for years, but now I decided to put them together and use them finally in Space Hulk. They just need a worthy painting.

My patriarch is now completely finished. Set in scene with a Terminator.

It still needs a few finishing touches, but my Patriarch is almost done. I used speedpaints from @thearmypainter.bsky.social only, which was quite some kind of experiment. I'm certainly not a master painter, but I'm rather happy with the result.

Priming with white takes some getting used to. It's more challenging because light colors don't flow as well. I'll have to try spray priming soon.

First Genestealer with #speedpaints by @thearmypainter.bsky.social. I deliberately painted him quickly to get a feel for the workflow when more than 20 figures have to be completed. There is certainly room for improvement, but I am quite impressed with the colors and their properties.

Speedpaints, part two (work in progress). First attempts at painting details with the new colors. It went better than I expected. With larger surfaces, you have to pay a little more attention to smooth flow and even coverage. It's a matter of practice. Overall, I'm still very impressed.

My first spontaneous attempt with Army Painter speedpaints. Priming with white, then paint over it once. Contrasts and highlights almost come up automatically. It still requires some practice, but the paint's properties are impressive. Definitely a time saver for large series.
