The Showreel got posted today! My game didn't make it in, but that's alright. And WOW were the games that did get shown absolutely amazing!!
Looks like I really gotta step up my game if I wanna have any shot at getting in next year lol

The new system that allows for a lot of variety, and it's very easy to add additional species/colors.

(Some combinations here look odd, I'm aware. The seeds are pre-generated in the editor, then manually filtered for best results, per each NPC.)

Originally my plan for the demo included only the first "story arc" (~1hr playtime)
But I've expanded it to have the first two arcs and a small teaser of the third one (~2hrs playtime)
This does make my target of a demo released by the end of 2025... harder to reach >_<
Still, I'll try my best

Thank you! I'm really happy with how they look so far!

Though while it's not visible in these screenshots, they definitely need more smoothing (like an additional blur pass)
Should probably look into Godot's compositor effects for that, since this is currently just a simple canvas item shader.

To be honest I didn't really play any RPGs as a child, I only got into them in the last few years 😅 (Persona, UT & DR, Paper Mario...)
Any ones you recommend, that this reminds you of? It'd be good for me to have more sources to draw inspiration from

The battle starting transition is actually slightly broken in this clip-- it's supposed to fade from the overworld scene into the battle scene (like how it does at 0:14) instead of doing a hard cut
I gotta get around to fixing that eventually lol
