Maybe not? I share much of your discomfort with generative AI, but as consumers it’s still our responsibility to separate reality from marketing claims. That’s true of *everything,* not just AI.

The tools are already useful and important in highly constrained ways, but it’s difficult to get people to see that when their only understanding of AI is “get ChatGPT to write an essay for me.”

IMO it’s always been a foregone conclusion that Cuomo would win; his name recognition advantage is just too strong.
But Mamdani being *that* close—despite relatively little political experience and a scary-sounding name!—is a good sign that voters are waking up.

… compared to socialism or any other type of massive, top-down societal organization. Libertarianism feels “right” to many people because it works well in the small social structures that we humans directly experience, but breaks down as societies grow.

Right, but for a long long time, those “rules of how to live together” were informal and emerged naturally within small communities.

I personally think Libertarianism is stupid, but it seems to me much more “natural” or intuitive compared to socialism.
