After a banner year of Warner Bros putting unique, filmmaker driven original movies into theaters and getting giant audience turn out for them, the corporation that now owns them would like you to know that actually you didn’t like this and that what you really wanted was to watch at home.

My 12 yr old daughter just told me that she and her friends refer to skeevy male adults that they suspect of being pedophiles as “PDF files” and with that I’m calling an end to all generational wars online. They win. Yeah, coming home when the street lights turned on was cool but we can’t beat that.

To me, the most important thing is to find a group of fellow film school people that you get along with and mesh with creatively. In an industry as obscenely transactional as Hollywood, you need REAL friends. Not just as collaborators but as emotional support. My true friends in LA are my life raft.
@conanthecontrarian.bsky.social Hi, Mr. Whannell! Matt here. What tips do you have for filmmakers trying to make connections in the industry i.e. agents, collaborators, mentors? I see a lot of creatives out of film school struggling with networking or breaking in.
