I played my mint OG promo pressing a couple weeks back. It was glorious. Sibelius is one of those composers who always brings joy, but that I’ve somehow never taken the time to go deeper. He and more Mahler are my New Years music goals.

Hiding from reality by pulling some LPs from my happy place. Damn shame Michael Penn never got the accolades he so richly deserves. I’m lucky to have this mint OG cutout vinyl of “March,” an album I had on cassette and played until it dissolved. #MichelPenn #vinylcommunity #LP #NowSpinning

Random thought: I’ve always had an affinity for the 60s-era RCA Victor Red Seal LP labels. Blazing but traditional, a nice bridge between the classic “shaded dog” of the 50s and the minimalist block RCA logo of the 70s. #VinylCommunity #vinyl #NowSpinning

Because it’s the spooky season, I played every physical copy of Berlioz’s “Symphonie Fantastique” I own. There are two versions by Munch and the BSO, one from 1954 and the next from 1962. They’re both amazing, but the ‘62 is my fave. The brilliant Davis on Philips is next. #VinylCommunity #classical

Can confirm that the new #NekoCase LP is brilliant.

New vinyl reissue of Concrete Blonde’s 1990 masterpiece “Bloodletting” now spinning on the VPI in all its gothy dark rumbling glory. Why has the Blonde been so neglected on vinyl for so long? Let’s get the rest of their catalog reissued, please. #VinylCommunity

The new album from the brilliant New Zealand band #TheBeths is brining me much joy in these dark times. #VinylCommunity #music Seriously, check these people out: stream it then buy it and then see them live if you can.

Spinning the long-awaited vinyl reissue of The Sundays’s sublime “reading, writing arithmetic” on our vintage Zenith this fall-ish afternoon. Happy vibes engaged. #VinylCommunity

Same!!!! So glad BTE is finally (if slowly) getting the quality vinyl treatment. They’re still a stupendous live band, btw.

Recently had the LP changer in our vintage Zenith expertly restored. Watched part of the brilliant #BillyJoel doc, so gotta binge on part of the old LP collection. BTW, somehow I’ve amassed 4 various pressings of “The Stranger” but no “Piano Man.” 🤷🏼‍♂️

Just returned from a 3,000 mile road trip to the Pacific Northwest, taking us through #Seattle among many other towns and cities. Gotta spin this beauty to decompress. Wish I still had the #cassette I totally wore out, but the 30th anniversary LP reissue will certainly do. #vinylcommunity #vinyl

The B-52’s brilliant comeback album “Cosmic Thing” was released this week in 1989. A killer-no-filler kitschy lovable joyous masterpiece. Yeah, “Love Shack” is terribly overplayed…but I still love the rest. #vinylcommunity #vinyl

Aimee Mann’s 2003 “Lost In Space” might be the most Gen-X album ever released. I’ve often credited The Jayhawks for helping me survive my early 30s, but I’m just realizing how essential this was as well. #VinylCommunity #GenX #AimeeMann #Vinyl

If I live to be 100, I doubt anything else will ever be as moving and powerful as this concert we attended in CDMX. Also, second row center seats were the equivalent of around $10 US, and the Palacio de Bellas Artes is a glorious marvel.

It’s not like I need an excuse to spin some #ABBA vinyl, but tonight it’s in memory of their brilliant engineer Michael B. Tretow, who passed last week. Joyous pop perfection is a special blend of epic artistic and technical skill. This team had endless supplies of both. #VinylCommunity

Behold the “most extraordinarily 80s-era soundtrack albums ever” nominees! “But where’s ’Pretty In Pink’ Mr Gen-X big shot?” you might ask. I had it on cassette, which was sadly played literally to death. ☠️🥺 #VinylCommunity #vinyl #GenX

Absolutely brilliant evening with the amazing @pattonoswalt.bsky.social and legend Emo Philips in Casper of all places!! I want more! (I snapped one souvenir pic at the very beginning 🫢). I had been nervous how a Wyo crowd would react. That was totally unnecessary. The vibes were 🔥💯

Because of an earlier shoutout to these Mercury mono-era recordings, I decided to stream Doráti/Minneapolis 1955 “Church Windows” today. It is glorious.

The #BrandiCarlile & #EltonJohn collaboration turned out a lot better than I had anticipated, but even if the music didn’t hit I very well might have bought the indie store #vinyl anyway. This is totally unapologetic LP porn. 🤩 #VinylCommunity

Been revisiting Tom Waits over the past few weeks and decided to put this on the turntable tonight. I didn’t fully appreciate it when it first dropped, but tonight it turned me into a pathetic whimpering mess. Oof. #TomWaits #Weepers #VinylCommunity #vinyl
