Hearing local media and White Sox commentators during the broadcast claim yesterday’s thunderstorm came out of nowhere and all of a sudden is infuriating. When the Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued they had a 30min lead time. There is no reason they should have been caught “off guard”! 😒

My interpretation of the ingredients for today’s severe weather outbreak. Pretty much agrees with what the SPC says. Should be interesting watching this play out.

Because this upcoming event is pretty popular, here is my thinking on where severe storms and possible tornadoes could develop Friday using an ingredients based approach. Should be interesting to see where the actual reports land.

About the presidency, Harry Truman famously said “the buck stops here.” Trump is trying to pass the buck and blame everybody but his administration for the DC plane crash. This is a time for consoling the families and investigating the cause of this tragedy, not shameful finger pointing.

Another event to keep an eye on is the expected winter storm developing for the Gulf states. I will mainly focus on the Houston area. Forecast models over night continue to support a snow event. It still appears that areas south of I-10 would experience a rain/snow/freezing rain mix.

Bitter cold temperatures arrive tomorrow in Chicagoland. Daytime temps are expected to be in the single digits with lows below zero in some areas. Wind chills are expected to be even lower, potentially down to -25F in some areas.
