The 2pm ET public update advisory for Hurricane Melissa has the central pressure down to 906 mb with peak winds of 175 mph. This makes Melissa the 10th strongest hurricane in record in the Atlantic Basin.

My kids are living their best lives right now. Watched lightning from this severe warned storm over OKC from our back porch as long as we could. Threw them in the car and drove to the library which has wide open views to the east and they are losing their minds over the prolific CGs. 😍⛈️

I may never sleep again after discovering this nightmare fuel on the back patio. Some sort of bug was dragging a wolf spider around. I made @horseyj.bsky.social go out there and take pics so we could identify it. Apparently spider wasps are a thing. So. That’s great.

Took the kids to meet NASA astronaut and former NFL player Leland Melvin today. After his presentation the kids were able to do some neat STEM activities and I talked with Mr. Melvin about the future landscape of space-sciences in an AI-focused world. Pretty cool!

Yesterday (Aug 26) was the first time since August 2016 that an SPC Day 1 Outlook did not have serve probabilities delineated for a day in August.

Oklahoma: False Fall is coming! Starting Monday, you’re going to break out the boots & sweaters, feel the call of pumpkin spice lattes & those Autumn Leaves candles. Then a week or two later summer is going to burst back on the scene like Kool-Aid Man to laugh in your face “BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!”

I don’t know how got so lucky to be blessed w/ such a kind-hearted son. He had to finish up at home this poem he didn’t finish at school. He is 11, he has dysgraphia, so please do not judge his penmanship or spelling harshly. I was crying as I read this. I want to live in the world he wishes for.
