No LIS class prepares you for the emotional labor of keeping a team functional. When no one storms out or feels ambushed, and you don’t absorb the tension; that’s success. But no one sees it. It just looks like a quiet day at the office.

All the sound and fury in all caps about how gen-AI is always giving wrong info is a little over done. In the case of ChatGPT, you can literally simply ask it-- "where'd you get this information?" and it will link you to where it came from.... then if it's a bad source, don't use it.

If Trump really thinks that other countries buying our products and accepting our currency for those products, then using that same money to buy our treasury bonds is them taking advantage of us, woo-boy, just wait until he sees what happens when they stop taking advantage of us.

She doesn't mention cloture specifically. But I think it's clear what Pelosi is saying here. And I think her saying it is a pretty big deal.

If you were really looking for fraud at SSA, you wouldn’t need write access. You WOULD need write access if you wanted to CREATE fraud where none existed as a pretext to shut down Social Security.

What happened to the executive branch being required to actually spend money on the things congress approved it to be spent on?

If you look closely, you can see an America First bro in the doorway yelling, "why aren't you wearing a suit?" and "did you say thank you?"
This is Winston Churchill visiting Washington DC to request assistance in the war against Germany. Notice he is wearing a "zip suit" and not a traditional suit. This was to honor the British troops--the same reason Zelensky dresses the way he does.

While I think the mass layoffs of federal workers will have political impact, unfortunately, unless they are personally impacted, Trump voters won't care.

Researchers examined compassionate behaviors like charitable giving, volunteering and disaster recovery aid, finding that despite deep polarization, many Americans remain driven to help others.
By Tara Sonenshine, Tufts University #compassion #empathy
Even as polarization surges, Americans believe they live in a compassionate country
Compassion starts with the individual – self-care and personal wellness. It then radiates out to the wider community in the form of action and engagement.

New study out in @sfjournal.bsky.social. We find Christian nationalism is among the leading predictors of multiple measures of racial solidarity, but ONLY FOR WHITES. For Blacks, CN actually seems to make them LESS inclined to advocate for themselves in politics. 1/3 academic.oup.com/sf/advance-a...

Mass #surveillance in the US has historically targeted racial and ethnic minorities. Experts warn this pattern could intensify under a second Trump term, with a focus on people of color and immigrants.

We study mass surveillance for social control, and we see Trump laying the groundwork to ‘contain’ people of color and immigrants
Create a moral panic. Blame it on certain people. Commence monitoring. Deploy droves of security agents. Detain or remove the targets. Sound familiar?
