Brooke’s famous poem was printed in Welsh newspapers often in 1915-18, sometimes quoted by serving soldiers; sometimes by grieving parents. It was rendered into Welsh by G R Thomas (keeping the reference to England) – sylwch fod y cyfeiriad at 'lecyn o Loegr' yn aros yn y fersiwn Cymraeg - 2/2

Bu farw Isaac D Evans ar 24.4.1916 a John Evans Clarke ar 11.6.1916, ac mae’r ddau wedi eu claddu ym mynwent CWGC Amara (3,500 o filltiroedd i ffwrdd o’u cartrefi). Dyna darn o farddoniaeth iddynt a gyhoeddwyd yn Baner ac Amserau Cymru ar 19 Awst 1916 2/2

This is the memorial to the 5th Welsh Regiment (with an archaic spelling). The only Welsh upon it is the aggressive regimental motto, 'Gwell angau na chywilydd' - 'Better death than dishonour'. 2/2

Yn y 136 o flynyddoedd ers i OME ysgrifennu, mae llawer o bethau wedi dylanwadu ar ffawd y Llydawyr, ond mae'n rhaid pwysleisio effeithiau rhyfeloedd Ffrainc ar bobl Lydaw. Wele'r gofeb ryfel (yn Ffrangeg yn unig) yn Kloar-Karnoed. Hwn yn datgan bod bechgyn y dref wedi marw dros Ffrainc

Information about Benjamin Evans from Y Goleuad, the publication of the Welsh Calvinistic Methodists - killed in an attack on a German strongpoint during the Battle of Loos 1915. His name is also on the Cardiff City Police Force memorial. Cafodd ei frawd, John Evans, ei anafu y flwyddyn ganlynol 2/2

A handwritten Roll of Honour for Kings Cross Chapel with 161 names on it dates from the war years – you can see the additions made to it. 13 are noted as ‘killed in action’ + 1 as ‘died of wounds’. There are at least 5 women on the list.
Yr enw cyntaf yw Annie Breeze, a’r 3ydd yw Mary Davies 2/2
