Life of Chuck

I missed the sneak preview of this a few weeks ago but as soon as I saw it was coming to the Hyland Cinema on its opening day I picked up a ticket (and renewed my membership!)

I would but Apple sucks ass

I was not intending for this recent Flashflood supply of OJ to be a replacement for repercussions from the US trade war but rather an addition to the camping staples for future adventures, but the timing sure is eerie

Loving seeing a flood of #Denali posts on my timelines. America, make this your SkyDome!

Quite unexpectedly, Once In A Quartet pumping out some classic videogames tunes ala "Cuphead" in the Wolf Performance Hall @lpl.ca

With the cold blast of Arctic air hitting us this week, cracking out this jar of homemade free-dried winter vegetable stew I made massive amounts of last February is hitting the spot right now

A gritty, spiraling self-exposure of obviously talented Robbie Williams. It shared some emotional notes from Bohemian Rhapsody while being brave enough to swing for the fences artistically like the recent Pharrell Piece by Piece film.

It's such a shame it wasn't well received at the box office.

A seed was planted a few weeks ago to do a non-fiction armchair adventure world tour. Some titles were things I'd set down and have meant to finish, otherwise serendipitous finds or recommendations from friends.

Great expression of the commons this evening on what is Truth and its meaning in our modern world of communication. Not a debate, but simply an open space for anyone to feel safe sharing their thoughts on the subject, and thus challenging one another #SocratesCafe @londonlibrary.bsky.social

Been put in my place by a migraine since last night, so I wasn't sure I'd continue the Taco train this week (or even remember it was Tuesday for that matter) but pulled it together with a simple baked fish base. I'll probably be grateful I ate something later

A 2024 resolution was to challenge myself to sleep under every full moon of the year, in part inspired by a @theweathernetwork.bsky.social graphic, an serendipitously found Torbjorn Ekelund book and my need to reclaim my own nature.

Mummers is a Newfoundland Christmas tradition akin to (my take) a cross between carolling & trick or treating. My friends had this lovely little Mummers statue who was experiencing some technical difficulties so I offered to patch the fellow up so they could enjoy a bright holiday season

The best thing about #tacotuesday so far is it forces me to creatively use up some perishables in the fridge. Tonight was a healthy serving of smokey chicken ranchero with spinach, peppers, tomatoes and onions. Light but filling and quick one pan meal.

Lovely evening @ the Christmas Market on the Green

Been a long time since I've had the pleasure of enjoying a festive gathering & to see so many wonderful community supporters on display warmed my heart on a chilly night (you absolutely must see the adorable work done by the indomitable Patty Lee)

I picked up this 20V Mastercraft electric shovel a few years ago when I was recovering from a torn rotator cuff injury. It's a nice compromise between a regular shovel and a snow blower. Light, takes little room, saves back but still exercise, reasonable price, great battery life

2 thumbs up

With parts of Ontario, Pennsylvania and New York getting slammed repeatedly with Lake Effect snow over the last week, maybe it's time to install pool covers on the Great Lakes.

I rescued these from the garden two weeks ago before the bad weather hit. Carrots, beets and radishes that hadn't quite matured. They have bounced back nicely and it extends my joy

Now that winter is here and long dark days creep under the skin I have to find ways to maintain some light.

One challenge will be a weekly #TacoTuesday mission.

Here's entry #2. I've been meaning to try Smashburger tacos for some time

It had to happen eventually.

I would have preferred to have taken the time to enjoy its beauty instead of shoveling and rushing to get to work

What I've found lacking with the #repaircafe events is the creative component, the inspiring of one another.

I have/had great hopes for The Labs space @londonlibrary.bsky.social, but I don't know if I've seen a #maker community develop there. If it has, I've somehow missed it and that's on me

Seasons change, and while those people, many whom were friends that became family, branched to different paths I feel like the #maker community in #ldnont faded dramatically not long after.

The closest I've found has been the #repaircafe sessions that started slightly before the pandemic.
