Within DHS, Noem and Lewandowski have cut employees or put them on administrative leave. The pair have fired or demoted roughly 80% of the career ICE field leadership that was in place when they started. In the blanket incident, Noem had to switch planes after a maintenance issue was discovered, but her blanket wasn’t moved to the second plane, according to the people familiar with the incident. The Coast Guard pilot was initially fired and told to take a commercial flight home when they reached their destination. They eventually reinstated the pilot because no one else was available to fly them home. A defining feature of fascism is that top officials tend to be both dangerous and ridiculous.

I'm so old I remember every time Dems tried to save jobs (e.g. bail out the US auto industry in the great recession), Reps tell them to not pick winners. Yet that's all Trump does now.

Trumpists insist that the thousands of ordinary people opposing ICE in Minneapolis are all, as Trump has said, “paid professional agitators”. They must know how absurd their claim is. Yet behind the absurdity lies a genuine sense of bafflement. MAGA can’t understand the willingness of so many people to endure so much hardship and run so many risks out of a sense of civic duty and care for their fellow man. Surely, they think, there must be hidden paymasters and puppet masters coordinating the anti-ICE resistance. But there aren’t. Ordinary Americans are braver and more determined than was dreamt of in their philosophy. As Adam Serwer writes, Every social theory undergirding Trumpism has been broken on the steel of Minnesotan resolve. The multiracial community in Minneapolis was supposed to shatter. It did not. It held until Bovino was forced out of the Twin Cities with his long coat between his legs. It’s important to understand that there is still much more work to be done and pain to endure. Running the loathsome Gregory Bovino out of town won’t end the siege of Minneapolis, let alone the ongoing attack on American democracy. Tom Homan, the “border czar” replacing Bovino, brings menace rather than conciliation. Earlier this month he told Fox News that he was pushing to create a database of protestors, which would be used for retribution: We’re going to make them famous. We’re going to put their face on TV. We’re going to let their employers, in their neighborhoods, in their schools, know who these people are.

The depravity of both ICE shooters is off the chart.
But the pile-on of the second shooter is obscenely evil. He had waited until the 1st ICEman shot the guy multiple times, then he moved around a non-shooter so he could fire into the dead man. Gleeful degeneracy incarnate.

A pointer points to the second ICE murderer whose had to either move or shoot around another ICE thug in order to shoot Pretti some more. Pretti, the yellow surrounded by ICE blue dots, was face-down and probably already dead from multiple shots from the first ICE murderer. Even more than the murder of Good days before, the murder of Pretti proves ICE is nothing but a gang of vicious gleeful fascist murderers who just want to kill all who are not like them, i.e. people of color and anyone who opposes fascism.

The TACO trade (and Epstein distraction) only lasted a day this time and the Dow Jones only lost 1/5 what it lost the last time, so the market seems to be wising up. But if they completely ignore Trump's deranged threats, he will have no incentive to chicken out. Will 800 points be enough next time?

There is no way to operate one of Nvidia's big AI-optimized GPUs without losing money. The owners of these GPUs who have lost the least money are the ones who rushed into buying GPUs without ensuring they'd have electricity to power them, and have been forced to leave their GPUs to age in warehouses. The minute they plug in those GPUs, they'll start losing money, and the more they use them, the more money they'll lose. I'm sorry. As a technology writer, I'm supposed to be telling you that this bet will some day pay off, because one day we will have shoveled so many words into the word-guessing program that it wakes up and learns how to actually do the jobs it is failing spectacularly at today. This is a proposition akin to the idea that if we keep breeding horses to run faster and faster, one of them will give birth to a locomotive. Humans possess intelligence, and machines do not. The difference between a human and a word-guessing program isn't how many words the human knows.
