I started wondering.. maybe these painted bike symbols do not actually have any magic powers y to keep cyclists safe?

Indicating can safe lives…this bus driver might need a reminder!
Luckily the cyclist decided to not go on the inside of the bus, despite the painted bike lane inviting this dangerous manoeuvre

Thank you for nothing, I guess 🤷‍♂️
Not even a “do not overtake cyclists” sign for closing the “Superhighway”?
I guess we have to be thankful it’s not just a dismount sign

There are so many options to cycle with the whole family: cargo bikes, normal bikes with a child seat or children cycling on their own. All seen here parked in Wandsworth by the Southside Shopping Centre
We’re lucky that in London having kids does not mean that you need to get a car 🚲💚

No cycle lane is safe from an HGV driver who’s looking for a place to park. Bonus points for blocking the dropped kerb
November 5, 2025 at 6:29 PM
Thanks to a protected intersection the driver of this truck could turn without posing a threat to cyclists

📍CS7 in Stockwell

The same situation would be extremely dangerous at many other junctions, even further down the same road, eg in Clapham and Tooting

Finally tested the Silvertown Cycle Shuttle before it inevitably gets cancelled
🧭 Wayfinding: I had trouble finding my route to and from the bus stop
🕣 Waiting 5-10min for the bus makes the route unattractive and I’d use the foot tunnel next time
🚲 Consequentially, I was the only cyclist on the bus

I don’t think I will send this one to operation snap 🤔

Visiting the Flying Dutchman for a bike repair, I got a chance to compare new cycle lanes in Camden to those in Wandsworth. What do you think, is it obvious which one is which?

The lane width might be a second contributor: in Google Maps I measured the lane as ~3.4m, right in the range of 3.2m-3.9m which national guidance notes as “not acceptable for cycling in mixed traffic” (LTN 1/20, table 7-2), as drivers can be tempted to overtake cyclists when it’s unsafe to do so.

I don’t fully know what it is about Bedford Hill that makes so many drivers mad, but the railway bridge creates a massive blind spot that some drivers seem to be ignorant of. I have a whole collection of dangerous passes into oncoming traffic, in most cases they saved no time at all

Spare a thought for motorists and campaign for protected cycle infrastructure‼️
Cyclists using the road seem to inflict anger in some drivers. I would like to help all drivers keep their cool by providing safe infrastructure for cyclists, so they can ride in their own physically separated lane 🚲💚

I never understood impatient drivers in London. They are usually just rushing to sit in the next bit of congestion 🤷‍♂️

Paying by the minute, many hire bike users are tempted to save some money by jumping red lights, but doing so might just add another £50 to the bill

Thanks to Wandsworth’s school streets, this kid could dance around on their way to school, which made my day 😊
If only we had more spaces this friendly to pedestrians of all age

Remember that this was the horrible mess of a junction before the council increased the size of the pedestrian islands and simplified the crossing for pedestrians, making it safer and a bit more convenient. Improvements of pedestrian safety were well overdue and can increase footfall in local shops

Tube strike and good weather have passed, but London cyclists are still out there 🚲💚

Also love to see the hundreds of pedestrians crossing London Bridge

I hope nobody got hurt. How does this even happen on a 20mph road?

📍Mile End Road, E1

Also this dangerous attempted close pass could have been avoided with cycle lanes and floating bus stops

Wandsworth has plenty space for cars, none for people on bikes.

The joys of the Wandsworth gyratory. 1960s car-centric design not fit for the 21st century

It’s great when people look out for other people’s bikes 💪

(also a shame that bike theft got so bad, this is necessary)
