Makes me wonder something else, do the fatalities in these disasters lower since the vehicles are self-sufficient and don't need as big a crew? Like if the Titanic was sentient, it wouldn't need a Bridge or an Engineering Crew since it controls its own direction and speed.

Vehicle-related tragedies like 9/11, the Titanic, and the Hindenburg are extra fucked up in the Cars Universe because the vehicles themselves were likely sentient too. Could you imagine your body getting hijacked, filled with cold water and broken in half, or bursting into flames?
